Grid Connection of New Facilities
When a new energy facility is to be connected to the power grid, technical, operational and contractual requirements must be handled correctly from the outset. This applies whether the project is a PV plant, wind farm, BESS facility, PtX facility, data centre or another major generation or consumption facility. A successful grid connection requires close coordination between the facility owner, the project’s other stakeholders and the relevant grid or transmission company.
As part of the process, a grid connection agreement is typically entered into, defining the technical and operational conditions for the connection and the requirements that must be fulfilled before the facility can be energised and commissioned. At the same time, the facility must document compliance with the applicable grid connection requirements and demonstrate that the necessary approvals can be obtained towards commissioning.
We have extensive experience with grid connection agreements and the technical requirements that apply to new generation and consumption facilities. We support facility owners, project developers, investors, EPCs, EPC-Ms, grid companies and transmission companies in creating an efficient, well-documented and smooth grid connection process.
Our services include:
We are often involved already in the early project phases, when grid connection options, capacity, technical requirements and interfaces need to be clarified. By involving the right expertise early in the process, potential challenges can be identified and managed before they develop into schedule or cost risks for the project.
From the first dialogue about connection options to the final grid connection, we ensure that relevant requirements, interfaces and processes are handled professionally and efficiently. Our goal is to create a solid technical and contractual foundation, reduce the risk of delays and contribute to an efficient path towards approval and commissioning.
