A reliable and future-proof power system requires a solid understanding of the electrical grid’s character-istics and behaviour under both normal and exceptional operating conditions. Power system calculations and analyses are therefore a central part of planning, developing and operating modern electrical grids, as well as connecting new generation and consumption facilities.
L-Engineering performs advanced power system calculations and technical analyses for grid and trans-mission companies, utilities, industrial companies, project developers and facility owners. The analyses provide a documented decision basis for the development, reinforcement and operation of both existing and future electrical installations.
Power system analyses help ensure that existing grids can be operated safely and efficiently, and that new facilities are dimensioned correctly. Through detailed calculations, we can identify potential bottle-necks, voltage challenges, fault current levels and capacity limitations, so that necessary measures can be planned in time. This reduces the risk of both underdimensioning and unnecessary investment in overdimensioned installations.
When connecting new consumers, generation facilities or larger energy facilities, the analyses provide a detailed overview of the facility’s impact on the surrounding power grid. The results are used, among other things, to assess the need for grid reinforcements, changes to protection systems, reactive com-pensation or other technical adaptations that can ensure stable and safe operation.

We use recognised and internationally applied analysis tools such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, Siemens PSSE and PSCAD for modelling and simulation of power systems. These tools make it possible to ana-lyse steady-state, dynamic, and transient conditions in the grid and assess the consequences of new facilities, changed operating conditions, or planned grid developments.
